Cyclone Softball Camps
Facilities Iowa State Softball Camp(s) will be held at the Southwest Athletic Complex. In case of bad weather the camp may be moved to the Lied Recreation Facility. The Southwest Athletic Complex, home to the Cyclone softball team since 1980, is widely regarded as one of the finest fields in the Big 12. The stadium received a facelift in 2004-05 with the addition of new bleachers, a backstop wall with protective padding and new netting.
The facility, located at the corner of Knapp and Sheldon streets, has permanent seating for 509 spectators. The dimensions are 190 feet down the foul lines and 220 feet to center field. The natural grass facility includes dugouts, an underground irrigation system, batting cages, home and visitor bullpens and a press box. The press box, built in 1997, includes working room for media and game day staff as well as television camera decks.
From interstate 35 take the exit onto Highway 30 (west) towards Ames. Take Lincoln Way to Knapp Street and turn left on Sheldon. Take Sheldon approximately 1/2 mile South and you will see the entrance to the Complex.
Lied Recreation Facility
